Nestlé México Integrates into “Hecho en México” Initiative

Nestlé México, a subsidiary of the Swiss food and beverage multinational, has joined the “Hecho en México” program, aligning with its strategy to bolster local production chains and encourage domestic consumption.

Over 200 Nestlé Products to Participate in the Initiative

As part of this integration, more than 200 Nestlé-produced items in Mexico will join the initiative, including brands like Chocolate Abuelita, Carlos V, Coffee Mate, Nesquik, and Nescafé.

Government’s Effort to Strengthen Domestic Market

The federal government’s program aims to strengthen the domestic market and encourage national production to reduce reliance on imports.

Nestlé’s Commitment to Mexico and Local Communities

“Hecho en México” seeks to highlight and promote companies that invest, produce, and generate employment in the country, recognizing the value of nationally produced goods and fostering their consumption,” stated Nestlé in a press release.

The company emphasized its collaboration with over 20,000 coffee growers in Veracruz, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Guerrero, and Puebla through initiatives like the Nescafé Plan, promoting sustainable agricultural practices and providing technical training.

“Joining ‘Hecho en México’ is a way to reaffirm our commitment to the country and the communities that are part of our value chain. We believe in Mexico, its people, and the potential of their talent,” said Fausto Costa, CEO of Nestlé México.

Previous Commitment to Mexico

This announcement complements Nestlé’s previous commitment, made on January 28, to invest $1 billion in projects between 2025 and 2027 to boost production in the country.

For the same period, the company anticipates purchases of agricultural products worth around $2.045 billion, supporting local farmers and contributing to the country’s socioeconomic growth.
