About the 11th Edition of Innovators Under 35 LATAM
The 11th edition of the Innovators Under 35 LATAM (IU35 LATAM) awards, in collaboration with Opinno, aims to discover the most innovative young minds in Latin America. Since its establishment in 1999, the IU35 LATAM platform has grown into a global leader community of innovators, pioneers, and social change agents. With 471 young individuals from across Latin America, the program connects brilliant minds with high-level national and international experts to develop and transform ideas into successful initiatives.
Mexico: A Hub for Emerging Talent
Mexican talent has been prominent among the most distinguished innovators on the platform, thanks to its robust technological ecosystem driven by young talent, expanding infrastructure, and growing investment in innovation.
“The country has become a regional reference for startup development, with emerging hubs in cities like Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Mexico City, focusing on solutions addressing social and economic challenges,” the press release highlights.
In previous editions of the Innovators Under 35 LATAM awards, 98 Mexican innovators have been recognized for their transformative proposals. Notable profiles include:
- Saiph Savage, co-founder of Botivist, a project using social media bots to mobilize people for positive impact activities.
- Walter Mata, CEO of Was Co., transforming plastic waste into sustainable construction materials.
- Zaid Badwan, general director of MediPrint, developing personalized prosthetics using 3D printing to improve people’s quality of life.
Innovators Under 35 LATAM 2025: Call for Applications
Interested young individuals have until June 30 to register at https://technologyreview.es/innovators-under-35-latam-2025/.
Applicants must have a project or venture related to one of the following categories: environment and sustainability, health and well-being, economy and finance, food, agriculture, energy efficiency, education and inclusion, telecommunications, transportation, and new materials.
Moreover, applicants should utilize one or more of the following tools: artificial intelligence, software and platforms, nanotechnology, biotechnology and genetics, robotics and automation, data and cybersecurity, virtual and augmented reality, Internet of Things (IoT), and blockchain.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be over 18 but under 35 years old
- Have Latin American nationality
- Be creative and use imagination to address problems from new perspectives
- Be audacious with a history of achievements demonstrating persistent perseverance
- The initiative or solution must have an impact and involve Latin American territory and its inhabitants
- Be constituted, at least in the initial development phase, with a validated product or service and clients
- Be technology-based, scientific, or both, and solve a concrete problem in the social and/or environmental area.
