June 5, 2025 – In observance of World Environment Day, the Government of Tamaulipas, led by Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development by advancing the construction of the Mante-Ocampo-Tula highway with unparalleled environmental protection standards.
Project Progress and Innovative Solutions
According to Secretary of Public Works Pedro Cepeda Anaya, the project has achieved an 85% physical progression. It incorporates innovative solutions such as the application of 144,375.58 cubic meters of eco-friendly permeable concrete. This cutting-edge material enhances water filtration and reduces harmful gas emissions, mitigating over 18 tons of carbon dioxide.
“Governor Américo Villarreal has instructed us to not only modernize the state’s infrastructure but also do so with full environmental responsibility. This highway exemplifies how engineering can support the environment,” stated Secretary Pedro Cepeda Anaya.
Reforestation and Biodiversity Protection
As part of the comprehensive sustainability actions, a reforestation plan will be implemented, planting approximately 300,000 trees across more than 270 hectares. Additionally, over 32,000 native plant species will be relocated, safeguarding the region’s biodiversity and ecological balance.
