About the Playmohistoria Museum

The Playmohistoria Museum, located in Zacatecas, is one of the major attractions for both domestic and international visitors. This unique museum uses German-made Playmobil toys to bring historical moments to life, offering an immersive experience for all ages.

With approximately 7,000 figurines and a vast collection of accessories, the museum promises an unforgettable journey through time and space. Their website invites visitors to “Discover history in a fun way! The largest Playmobil Collection in Mexico.”

The creators describe the museum as a thematic space where the magic of toys comes alive. They offer interactive displays, unique Playmobil figures, and family-friendly activities in the heart of Zacatecas.

Recognition by the Mexican Tourism Secretary

On May 1, federal Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodriguez will present Jorge Alberto Contreras López de Lara and Guillermo Foyo López de Lara with the recognition for innovative Mexican tourism product 2025 in the cultural tourism category.

The Mexican Tourism Secretary launched a call for nominations in 2025 for the recognition of innovative tourism products, aiming to honor service providers who strive for excellence in various categories such as sports, nature, meetings, romance, or wellness.

The cultural tourism segment focuses on learning, discovering, experiencing, and consuming artistic, spiritual, gastronomic, historical, or intellectual attractions that represent a society’s way of life, values, beliefs, and traditions.

Playmohistoria museum’s creators successfully achieve this by offering diverse activities for visitors, integrating colorful and detailed Playmobil figures in various sizes.

Their goal was to establish a playful learning space in their region. Starting in 2016, they placed their figurines in a public area, which quickly became a local attraction. Eventually, they opened the museum in December 2022 with support from the state government.

Zacatecas Tourism Secretary Le Roy Barragán Ocampo wished the creators success in bringing the dream of countless children to life by offering a Playmobil exhibition experience.
