Another challenge is the return process. Some platforms, like Alibaba, require users to initiate a request with the seller for returns, and if denied, start a dispute resolution process with the platform. This can prolong the process for several weeks.
Additionally, some products may be subject to import taxes or have high shipping costs. PROFECO warns that foreign businesses aren’t obligated to display total prices, including all charges upfront. Most add shipping, customs fees, and taxes only at the payment stage.
