Chirey, a Chinese automotive company, is positioning itself as Mexico’s favorite hybrid car brand with the launch of its new Jaecoo 7 PHEV (plug-in hybrid) SUV. The company recently introduced its Sistema Super Híbrido (SSH) technology, aiming to lead the transition towards more conscious, technological, and efficient mobility.

Svein Azcué, CEO and Operations Director of Chirey Motor México, stated that the company’s strategy is to win back its consumers with high-quality products. He expressed optimism that the launch of super hybrid vehicles will establish a stronger trend in the hybrid car market.

Details of the Jaecoo 7 PHEV SUV and its Features

At the launch event for the Jaecoo 7 PHEV SUV, Azcué was accompanied by high-ranking Chery International executives, including Fenghuo Si (Vice President of Chery International), Yunfei Luan (Director of Chery’s Drivetrain Systems Technical Center), and Tina Xu (CEO of Chery International). They emphasized that the super hybrid system will be a game-changer.

Growing Demand for Hybrid Cars in Mexico

Hybrid cars have led the green vehicle sales in Mexico, with plug-in hybrid vehicles gaining popularity among consumers recently.

According to the Mexican Automotive Industry Association (AMIA), plug-in hybrid vehicle sales increased by 55.5% from January to May of the current year compared to 2024. This growth reflects a transition from 2,652 units sold to 4,125 plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Chirey’s Presence and Future in Mexico

Chirey, a global company with a presence in Mexico since 2022, sold over 30,000 units in its first year of operation. Although the company is currently adjusting with its clients, it aims to expand its sales in Mexico.

“We have 90 dealerships across all major and secondary cities in the country, and we want them to be strong and take care of clients for all Chirey brands (Omoda and Jaecoo) under the same roof,” Azcué mentioned.
