Nayarit Enjoys Historic Tourism Boom
Tepic, Nayarit, April 16, 2025 – The state of Nayarit is experiencing a historic moment in terms of tourism, as it has recorded the highest number of state, national, and international visitors in its history, according to Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero. During this Easter season, thousands of tourists have chosen the beaches and destinations within the state, positioning Nayarit as one of Mexico’s leading vacation hubs.
Sayulita Beach Declared Safe for Recreational Use
A significant aspect of this tourism season has been the official declaration of Sayulita Beach as suitable for recreational use. Governor Navarro Quintero explained that after a recent incident where contamination levels exceeded the norm due to a drainage issue, urgent measures were taken that led to the water quality’s recovery.
With authorization from COFEPRIS, the State Commission for Protection Against Sanitary Risks of Nayarit (COESPRISNAY) conducted samples confirming the good quality of water in Sayulita Beach. The federal agency, as reported, will publish these favorable results in the coming days.
“We are monitoring water quality. I was concerned a few weeks ago when Sayulita’s drainage went beyond the norm. I had to monitor it, and the federal government gave me that opportunity. The monitoring came back negative after the measures we took. It’s now usable,” said Governor Navarro Quintero.
Optimal Conditions Across Nayarit’s 21 Beaches

The organization of parking and logistics applied to receive visitors reinforces the state’s comprehensive preparation for this high-demand period.
Robust Security Measures in Place
To ensure a safe and satisfying stay, the state government has implemented a robust security operation in coordination with the National Guard, the Navy, and the Mexican Army. These operations include constant surveillance on roads, beaches, and urban areas like Tepic, Bahía de Banderas, Santiago Ixcuintla, and Compostela to protect both tourists and residents.
Nationwide Tourism Expectations
An estimated 14,756,000 tourists are expected to travel during Easter and Easter week, according to data from the Secretariat of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora.
