Introduction to the Initiative by SICT
Riviera Maya, Qro. Road Efficiency. The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) is preparing various actions aimed at improving operational conditions for cargo transport, including issuing recognition of self-regulated companies, promoting private investment in the construction and operation of transport hubs, and seeking integration of information generated by concessionary highway companies for the benefit of users.
Statement by Luis Ruiz, Director General of Federal Trucking (DGAF)
“Soon, we hope to finalize this month, possibly next week, the guidelines for autotransport companies to receive self-regulation recognition (initially in matters related to weight and dimensions, as well as driving times) and the benefits that this may entail,” stated Luis Ruiz, Director General of Federal Trucking (DGAF).
Collaboration with ANTP and Other Sector Organizations
During his speech at the 25th National Goods Transportation Forum, Ruiz emphasized their collaboration with the National Private Transport Association (ANTF), the forum organizer, and other sector organizations to acknowledge their proactive work on these topics.
Objectives of Self-Regulation
The objectives of this measure, applicable to both large firms and individual truck drivers, include placing a type of seal or distinctive mark on vehicles to minimize complications while traveling across the nation’s roads. This does not exempt compliance with existing regulations.
Recognition of Formal Companies’ Efforts in Road Safety
During the forum’s inauguration, Tania Carro, Undersecretary of Transportation, acknowledged the work done by formal companies regarding road safety, logistics, and cargo security.
Guidelines for Safe Transport Hubs
Regarding safe transport hubs at strategic points, Ruiz previewed that in the coming weeks, they will publish a notice outlining guidelines for investors interested in constructing these hubs.
