Introduction

In response to market competitiveness and the need to remain among the most sought-after in its segment, Volkswagen has updated its Nivus model. The new Nivus boasts an increased level of safety, making it a compelling choice for those in the entry-level SUV market.

Volkswagen’s Entry-Level SUVs

Volkswagen offers two entry-level SUV options: the Taigun, which features a more traditional design, and the Nivus, catering to those seeking a bolder appearance. As part of its product cycle, the Nivus has been updated in essential areas of its offering.

Exterior Design

The Nivus now sports new lines in its bodywork, aligning it with the latest design trends seen in the recently launched Tiguan. This includes a horizontal frontal bar, more aggressive air intakes, revised wheel design for a sportier look, and updated taillight graphics with the signature horizontal bar between the dual headlights.

No Changes Needed Inside

The interior design remains consistent, featuring a digital cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen, climate controls, and dual USB ports. The seats offer sporty adjustability with lateral support and a perfectly tailored backrest. Passengers over 1.80 meters in height will find ample headroom and space in the second row.

The equipment remains comprehensive with Volkswagen Wire & Wireless App-Connect, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless charging.

Maintaining Momentum

Mechanically, the Nivus remains unchanged. The efficient three-cylinder turbo engine delivers 114 horsepower, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Volkswagen claims a combined fuel efficiency of 17.6 km/l, achievable with relaxed driving and avoiding aggressive turbo engagement.

During initial driving impressions, the vehicle exudes confidence, thanks to its semi-independent rear axle and electric steering feel. The primary criticism might be the turbo lag, but it’s important to note that this is a small, one-liter, turbocharged three-cylinder engine.

The vehicle's total length is 4,272 mm, making it highly practical in the city. Cargo volume ranges from 415 liters to 826 liters with the second row folded.

Enhanced Safety Features

The Nivus excels in safety, with six airbags, active front headrests, and tire pressure monitoring. Additional driving assistance features include Lane Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring with rear traffic alert, and Travel Assist with Stop & Go functionality.
