According to a statement from COMCE released on Monday, Al Zeyoudi proposed consolidating alliances in innovation, tourism, infrastructure, logistics, and semiconductors. He reiterated UAE’s interest in establishing a long-term trade relationship with Mexico.
Sergio Contreras, COMCE’s CEO, noted that trade between the two countries nearly doubled in the last decade. In 2024, Mexico exported goods worth $666 million to UAE, while its imports from the nation amounted to $697 million.
Contreras suggested a new phase of collaboration in sectors such as clean energy, water technology, and electromobility.
Memorandum of Understanding Signed
Luis Rosendo Gutiérrez, Mexico’s Deputy Secretary of Foreign Trade, highlighted the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce & Industry to establish a joint Business Council.
Gutiérrez explained that the agreement aims to promote cooperation in trade, investment, and industrial sectors. He emphasized that this alliance responds to a new phase, centered on economic security and strategic collaboration.
Mexico’s Growing Ties with UAE
Francisco Cervantes, President of the Coordinating Business Council (CCE), acknowledged that Mexico is already UAE’s second Latin American partner and seeks to expand its exports in sectors like agrofood and manufacturing.
Cervantes also recognized the value of UAE’s best practices in infrastructure, energy, and digitalization.
