Oracle’s Stock Surge Following Cloud Services Agreement
Oracle’s stocks experienced a significant increase on Monday after the company announced a cloud services agreement expected to boost its annual revenue by over $30 billion starting fiscal year 2028. The Chief Executive Officer of Oracle, Safra Catz, planned to meet with colleagues to discuss the growth of multi-cloud databases, as per a document filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The company’s cloud computing stocks rose by 3.99% at the market close on Monday, bringing a 32% increase so far in 2025.
Apple Loses Appeal in Antitrust Case
A U.S. federal judge ruled on Monday that Apple must face a Department of Justice lawsuit accusing the iPhone manufacturer of illegally dominating the U.S. smartphone market. Judge Julien Neals of Newark denied Apple’s request to dismiss the lawsuit, which alleges that the company imposed restrictions on third-party app and device developers to prevent users from switching to competitors and illegally dominating the market.
The decision allows the case to proceed, potentially leading to a prolonged battle for Apple as it attempts to defend what is described as anticompetitive barriers with the iPhone.
Mercado Play Surpasses 7.7 Million Downloads in Latin America
Mercado Libre’s streaming platform, Mercado Play, has surpassed 7.7 million downloads across Latin America in smart TVs within three months of its launch.
By May of this year, total consumption was distributed between mobile and desktop devices at 59% and smart TVs at 41%. However, the average time spent per user on smart TVs was 250% higher than on mobile devices and 59% more than on desktops.
Mexico currently ranks among the countries with the most smart TVs connected to Mercado Play, with over 2.1 million downloads.
Warren Buffett Donates $6 Billion
Prominent American entrepreneur and significant global investor, Warren Buffett, announced a $6 billion donation in Berkshire Hathaway shares to the Gates Foundation and four other charitable organizations.
The donation, consisting of approximately 12.4 million Class B Berkshire shares, raised Buffett’s total donation to charitable foundations to over $60 billion.
At Monday’s closing, the share price stood at $485.77.
