Strengthening Economic Cooperation and Commercial Relations

In a recent public presentation in Mexico, newly arrived Chinese Ambassador Chen Daojiang emphasized the importance of exploring new avenues for economic and commercial cooperation between China and Mexico. During a welcome reception marking the start of his diplomatic mission, Chen expressed China’s willingness to strengthen ties between the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) — one of China’s major development projects — and Mexico’s national strategies, such as Plan México.

Chen stated from his official residence, “Many Chinese companies view Mexico favorably and intend to invest and establish themselves here. We hope the Mexican government will continue offering a fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment.” He also reiterated that China welcomes more Mexican businesses to explore its market and foster a more balanced and mutually beneficial economic exchange.

Chen highlighted that bilateral links between China and Mexico have grown closer in recent years, necessitating expanded cooperation in areas like education, sports, tourism, media, and archaeology. In the international arena, both nations should uphold multilateralism, promote a more equitable and ordered multipolar world, and foster an inclusive and beneficial economic globalization.

Mexico’s Strategic Partnership with a Future-Oriented Approach

Fernando González Saiffe, Director General for the Asia-Pacific region at Mexico’s Secretariat of Foreign Relations, expressed that Mexico aims for a strategic partnership with a future-oriented vision based on the “win-win” principle.

“We urge China to continue encouraging the presence of Mexican businesspeople and companies in their country, as well as promoting our exports, especially from the agroindustrial sector,” González Saiffe stated. He emphasized that the comprehensive strategic partnership between both nations is increasingly dynamic and rests on Mexico’s unwavering respect for the principle of one China.

Senator Gerardo Fernández Noroña, President of the Senate of the Republic, asserted that amid global trade tensions, Mexico should view China as a reliable partner.
