In the first seven months of 2025, Latin America has recorded a total of 1,591 mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deals worth $58.804 billion, showing a 6% decrease in transaction numbers but a 24% increase in their value compared to the same period last year, according to TTR Data.

Country-wise Analysis

Brazil leads the region with 982 operations, a 3% increase, and $30.532 billion in capital movement.

  • Chile follows with 186 transactions, an 11% decrease, and $3.248 billion in capital movement (67% less).
  • Mexico drops to fourth place with 149 operations, a 36% decrease, and $14.583 billion in capital movement (46% less).
  • Argentina falls to fifth place with 139 transactions, a 12% increase, and $3.633 billion in capital movement (30% less).
  • Colombia ranks sixth with 130 transactions, a 30% decrease, but a 75% increase in capital movement to $5.419 billion.

Cross-border investments in July show a greater appetite for investment from Latin American companies in Europe and North America, with 52 and 49 transactions completed, respectively. Meanwhile, the most active companies in Latin America also come from North America and Europe, with 231 and 221 transactions.

  • Private Equity: 84 transactions worth $4.901 billion, a 34% decrease in operations but a 32% increase in capital movement compared to the previous year.
