Matamoros, Tamaulipas – Following the commencement of operations at Puerto Norte in Matamoros, led by Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya on the previous Saturday, the State Government announces that through the Secretariat of Public Works (SOP), an investment exceeding 206 million pesos has been made during 2023 and 2024 to consolidate this strategic infrastructure for northeast Mexico.

Pedro Cepeda Anaya, head of the SOP, revealed that these funds have been allocated to crucial projects such as the construction of internal roads, north roadway, fences and perimeter walls, technical studies, rehabilitation of the signaling system, as well as the installation of mooring buoys and approach lights – essential for ensuring safe maritime operations.
Furthermore, it was announced that for 2025, the State Government plans an additional public investment of approximately 190 million pesos to further strengthen the port facility with the construction of a water storage tank, service roads, the Maritime Control Center, and the rehabilitation of the lighthouse area.
