Revelations from the National Census of Federal and State Public Security 2025
The National Census of Federal and State Public Security 2025, conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), has unveiled that 48.3% of security personnel in the country earn no more than 10,000 pesos monthly.

Upon further examination, 88.9% of Guardia Nacional (GN) members reported earning less than 10,000 pesos monthly, whereas in state police forces, the percentage was 13.
Gender Disparities
The study also highlights gender differences. In the Guardia Nacional, 15.8% of women and 9.8% of men earn over 20,000 pesos monthly, while in state police forces, the proportions are significantly higher: 34.1% of women and 40.5% of men exceed this threshold.
Inegi clarified that, for GN members, incomes are explained by their origins from the Secretariat of National Defense and the Secretariat of the Navy, who receive additional compensation for institutional services in Guardia Nacional that do not exceed 15,000 pesos monthly.

By the end of 2024, GN and state police forces totaled 283,204 individuals: 46.6% (132,036) in GN and 53.4% (151,168) in the state domain.

Additionally, it was announced that the GN operates 825 infrastructure units: 41% are companies, 36.1% are stations and sub-stations, and 9.8% are military camps.
