Introduction
Tere Jiménez, the governor of Aguascalientes, inaugurated the Multilateral Science, Technology, and Innovation Forum for the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation. The event brought together scientists, researchers, and technologists from across the nation.

Forum Highlights and Collaborations
During the forum, Governor Tere Jiménez presented the State Technology Innovation Prize 2025 across various categories and acknowledged top state laboratories. She also signed a collaboration agreement with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) to strengthen intellectual property management in Aguascalientes.
“From Aguascalientes, we will always ensure that education, science, technology, and innovation receive the support they deserve. We bet on innovation to become that driving force, that scientific and technological power we aspire to be. That’s why everyone has the high responsibility to work together from our positions to promote the transition towards clean energy, semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle production, and disease prevention,” emphasized Governor Tere Jiménez.
She highlighted the collaboration between higher education, businesses, and scientific research to develop life-saving innovations, improve production efficiency, and promote a more sustainable field using AI, digital technology, robotics, electronics, IoT, and Industry 4.0 areas.
Recognition from Santiago Nieto Castillo
Santiago Nieto Castillo, the director of IMPI, praised Governor Tere Jiménez’s efforts in advancing science and technology. He noted that Aguascalientes now ranks 4th in Mexico for the most patent registrations, according to IMCO data.
“Aguascalientes has seen significant development in patenting over the past few years, as per IMCO data. I also commend the state government’s decision to support semiconductor manufacturing, which will be a crucial development niche in the future. I want to acknowledge Governor Tere Jiménez’s work in science and technology,” Nieto Castillo stated.
Forum Activities and Awards
The forum included working sessions, keynote speeches, workshops, and exhibitions. The collaboration agreement between the state government and IMPI will facilitate joint training, consultation, and linkage actions, as well as foster innovation, technology transfer, and competitive researcher, entrepreneur, business, and academic institution development in Aguascalientes.

During the event, Governor Tere Jiménez presented the State Technology Prize 2025:
- Higher Education Institutions: Dr. Ricardo Abel Espinosa Loera from the Universidad Panamericana for his “Embedded System with Artificial Intelligence” project.
- Public and Private Research Centers: Dr. José Manuel Arreola Guerra from the Instituto de Atención Integral de Enfermedades Renales del Estado de Aguascalientes for his “State Register of Chronic Kidney Disease in Aguascalientes” project.
- Companies and Industry: Dr. Gustavo Adolfo Acevedo Ramírez and Dr. Carlos Alberto Paredes Orta from the Centro de Investigación en Óptica-NISSAN for their “Computer Vision Solution to Compare Colors Accurately Without Specialized Infrastructure” project.
