METEPEC, State of Mexico – The State of Mexico is leading the nation in job creation, with over 138,000 positions generated from September 2023 to June 2025, highlighted Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez during the inauguration of the Galerías Metepec extension.
“Department stores have seen investments exceeding 4 billion pesos, positioning the State of Mexico as the national leader in the number of department stores available, with 328 operating daily and employing thousands of locals,” stated the Governor.
The Governor mentioned that the entity has secured an investment of 140,155 million pesos from September 2023 to July 2025.
“This leadership is not a coincidence; it’s the result of many hands and the trust of investors who see our land as a secure space with a promising future,” emphasized Governor Delfina Gómez.
She further added that the State of Mexico prioritizes coordinated work with the Federal Government, municipalities, and entrepreneurs to achieve sustainable growth focused on the well-being of the Mexico State population.
Galerías Metepec: A Major Commercial Center
Galerías Metepec is among the five largest commercial centers in the country, spanning 964 square meters, housing 269 stores, restaurants, and children’s play areas. It attracts approximately 1.6 million monthly visitors.
Economic Sector Contributions
Laura González Hernández, Secretary of Economic Development, reported that out of nearly 900,000 established economic units in the state, 50% belong to the commerce sector, which accounts for 25% of the state’s economy. Combined with the services sector, it nearly reaches 70%.
She explained that to maintain positive data, a strategy promoting investment with legal certainty, investment protection, availability of services, labor and educational linkage, as well as fiscal and non-fiscal incentives has been implemented since the beginning of this administration.
“From small businesses, producers, and artisans to large investors, we direct our efforts towards all of them, safeguarding investment and ensuring job creation, a source of income and well-being for families,” asserted Laura González.
