The Mexican junior delegation has once again proven its strength, securing the fourth position in the medal count at the II Juegos Panamericanos Junior Asunción 2025 with a total of 129 medals. This performance positions Mexico as one of the top five teams in the Pan American region, which includes 41 member countries under the Organización Deportiva Panamericana (Panam Sports).

These athletes’ achievements highlight Mexico’s dedication to nurturing young talent across various sports.

Diving and Artistic Swimming Triumphs

Mexico’s diving team was particularly successful, winning four gold medals, six silver, and two bronze in the II Juegos Panamericanos Junior. The achievements were secured by Kenny Zamudio in the 10m platform and David Vázquez in the 3m springboard, earning Mexico 16 spots for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games.

In artistic swimming, Mexico’s team clinched all three gold medals at the Centro Acuático Olímpico in Paraguay. The mixed routine acrobatic team reaffirmed their title from four years prior in Cali-Valle, Colombia.

Athletics Shines with 19 Medals

Mexico’s athletics team was the most successful within the delegation, amassing 19 medals: four golds, five silver, and ten bronze. This performance placed Mexico fourth in the overall Pan American standings.

Looking Ahead to the Next Junior Games

The next Junior competition is scheduled for 2029. Jalisco’s Governor, Pablo Lemus Navarro, has expressed interest in hosting the event. Guadalajara, which previously hosted the Pan American Games, is a strong contender due to its successful track record and Mexico’s prominent role in Panam Sports.

“Guadalajara is a fantastic location, and we were thrilled to host the Pan American Games there a few years ago. Mexico has consistently demonstrated its commitment to sports, administration, and Panam Sports. We’re eager to continue this enthusiasm in Guadalajara,” said Neven Ilic, Panam Sports President.
