It’s time to celebrate university books and reinforce the appreciation of editorial projects from universities, as well as fostering science and research.
FILUNI: A Growing Event
In just seven editions, the FILUNI has become a significant attraction, primarily targeting the student community of its organizing university but with an extended program aimed at diverse audiences.
For its 2019 edition, the third one, FILUNI reported around 25,000 attendees over six days. The previous year’s edition also saw six days of activity with 43,000 attendees.
Notable Cancellations and Guests
With the distinguished presence of the University of Chile at FILUNI, Mexico City welcomes a prominent delegation of authors, scientists, researchers, and decision-makers from the South American country.
At the last minute, the organizing committee announced that poet Raúl Zurita canceled his participation due to “force majeure” circumstances. However, they mentioned that Zurita shared a visual work to be unveiled on August 30th, and Rocío Cerón, Julia Santibáñez, and Hernán Bravo Varela will discuss his impact on contemporary Latin American literature.
Despite the cancellation, the attending delegation is impressive. Among Chilean authors attending FILUNI are Alejandro Zambra and Daniela Catrileo, who will co-host the opening conversation titled “South of the Word: Poetry and Memory in Chilean Literature,” alongside Mexican writer and UNAM Cultural Coordinator Rosa Beltrán on August 26th at 1:00 PM in the Clementina Díaz y de Ovando Hall.
