Organized by Mexico Ciberseguro Alliance (AMCS), the forum seeks to harmonize cybersecurity initiatives and accelerate national ecosystem maturity.

Ernesto Ibarra, coordinator of AMCS, explained that the Second National Cybersecurity Forum aims to consolidate and align legislative efforts in cybersecurity, prevent regulatory fragmentation, and expedite the maturity of the national ecosystem.

Multi-stakeholder Approach

Ibarra emphasized the forum’s multi-stakeholder nature, bringing together public sector actors from various government branches and orders, with the intention of incorporating the Judicial Power and local actors who may be victims or responsible for cybercrimes.

Forum Schedule and Participants

The event will take place from September 22 to 26, featuring three virtual days (22nd, 23rd, and 24th) for remote participation from international leaders and agencies, followed by two in-person days (25th and 26th) in Mexico City. The program includes keynote speeches, panels, and an award ceremony.

  • Approximately 20 companies from the sector will participate.
  • Five to six in-person panels will be held.

Key Objectives

A primary objective of the forum is to prevent the proliferation of disconnected cybersecurity initiatives in Congress and instead promote a more robust, collaborative, and internationally aligned legislative proposal.

Additionally, the forum aims to bridge the skills gap by fostering collaboration between universities and the industry, ensuring graduates possess the required competencies for both private and public sector agencies.

Institutional Support and Local Engagement

The Mexico Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) has pledged institutional support for the event, with invitations extended to other federal agencies, business chambers, and local governments.

During the in-person session, memorandums of understanding will be signed with states and municipalities to strengthen local chapters and expand the initiative.

Award Ceremony

The forum will conclude with the presentation of the Cybersecurity Awards by the Alliance, recognizing six categories: cybersecurity career, journalists and communicators, good practices in public and private organizations, recognition for cyber police, and distinctions for universities in terms of education, research, and innovation.
