Introduction
The upcoming reforms and laws that Palacio will send to the Congress of the Union are expected to conclude a seven-year task of changing the political regime. This might be the last chance for any opposition party to unite dissatisfied individuals with the IV-T.
Realistic Vision and Opposition’s Last Chance
The opposition will need a realistic vision, avoiding the introspection of many distinguished political analysts who are only beginning to realize that the Ruling Party has revived the all-powerful Imperial Presidency of the last century.
The 21st-century version of that Imperial Presidency is starting to permeate the Ruling Party. Despite the pending Electoral Reform, the indiscipline of the official tribes is the final call for the opposition to ensure that minorities have representation.
Reelection of the Power Judicial in Mexico City
Reelection of the Power Judicial in Mexico City?
Rafael Guerra, President of the Supreme Court of Justice in Mexico City, is reportedly buying time to retain his position and the possibility of reelection until 2027.
Clara Brugada, the Head of Government, has promoted transitional articles in the capital’s judicial reform that pave the way for Guerra Fuentes to effectively reelect himself.
Guerra Fuentes joined the Mexico City court in 2019 and has since been identified as one of the closest advisors to former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who sought his legal counsel during the attempt to deport him.
Indiscipline in Zacatecas and San Luis Potosí
In Zacatecas, Senator Saúl Monreal is defying the rules against nepotism by insisting on being a gubernatorial candidate in the entity governed by his brother, David Monreal. He claims to uphold popular vote.
In San Luis Potosí, Governor Ricardo Gallardo is openly violating the rules against nepotism by attempting to make his wife, Senator Ruth González Silva, his successor.
It remains to be seen if Morena’s leadership, Luisa María Alcalde and Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, will rein in these rebels or if they will bend to their demands to avoid losing elections in 2027.
Notes in Turmoil
After meeting with Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated, “I don’t believe that in friendly countries military attacks will be necessary.” (Presumably, to assuage any concerns…)
President Sheinbaum revealed that she discussed tariff barriers troubling Washington with Noboa and mentioned that the Economy Secretary, Marcelo Ebrard, is reviewing them…
Has President Sheinbaum been informed that local suppliers in Tabasco and Campeche have not been paid?
Following the assassination of Guerrero’s Government Welfare Secretary, it is reasonable to question: How far will the “Los Ardillos” criminal band extend its territorial control in the entity?
