Volkswagen Introduces New Electric SUV
Volkswagen revealed a new electric compact SUV, part of its push to offer affordable battery vehicles amidst rising competition in costs, innovation, US tariffs, and shifting demand.
The ID.CROSS is part of a product offering that has seen Volkswagen Group, Europe’s largest car manufacturer, introduce around 60 models by 2024 and 2025, according to CEO Oliver Blume. The electric compact SUV, set for its world debut in summer 2026, is expected to retail between €28,000 and €30,000 (approximately $32,780 to $35,121).
European car manufacturers face tough competition from China as they attempt to introduce affordable electric vehicles in the market.

EU Fines Alphabet’s Google for Anti-Competitive Practices
The European Union fined Alphabet’s Google €2,950 million (nearly $3.5 billion) for abusing its dominant position in digital advertising technology. This fine represents the second-largest antimonopoly penalty imposed by the EU after another Google fine in 2018.
The European Commission, the EU’s antimonopoly regulator, argued that Google abused its leading role in the buying and selling of digital ads on third-party websites and applications, directing business to its own advertising auction house—a practice known as ad exchange.
Google now has 60 days to address the European Commission’s recommendations, though the regulator’s preliminary opinion remains that Google should divest parts of this business.
