The transactional market in Latin America has recorded a total of 1,855 mergers and acquisitions (M&A) worth $65,252 million between announced and closed deals. This represents a 5% decrease in the number of transactions but a 21% increase in their value compared to the same period last year, according to TTR Data and Datasite.

Brazil leads the region with 1,142 transactions, a 5% increase, and $33,183 million in capital movement from January to August. Chile follows with 225 operations, a 3% decrease, and $4,330 million in value, a 61% drop compared to the same period in 2024.
Mexico drops one rank annually with 176 transactions, a 33% decrease, but sees a 23% rise in capital movement, totaling $15,419 million.
Argentina follows with 163 operations, a 7% increase, and $4,165 million in capital movement, a 23% decrease from the previous year. Argentina and Brazil are the only two countries with positive results in terms of transactions.
Colombia ranks penultimately with a 30% decrease in transactions, totaling 155, but increased capital movement by 77%, reaching $5,611 million. Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia are the only countries with increased capital movement so far this year.
Peru occupies the last place with 84 transactions, a 32% decrease, and $1,658 million in capital movement, a 38% drop.
Cross-Border Transactions and Private Equity, Venture Capital, and Asset Acquisitions
Latin American companies have focused on Europe and North America for cross-border transactions, completing 57 and 56 deals, respectively. Meanwhile, North American and European companies have been the most active in strategic Latin American M&A, with 277 and 246 transactions, respectively.
Private Equity: A total of 102 transactions worth $5,315 million have been recorded, representing a 30% decrease in transactions but a 20% increase in capital movement compared to the same period last year.
