Overview of the Mexican Energy Secretariat’s (Sener) Budget Increase

The Mexican Energy Secretariat (Sener) has been one of the most benefited institutions in terms of public budget. If the 2026 project is approved, it would receive nearly 87% more resources than in 2025.

Sener’s Significant Budget Increase

According to the Projected Federal Budget of Expenditures (PPEF) 2026, Sener is estimated to receive approximately 267,439 million pesos for the following year. The majority of this amount would be absorbed by transfers to Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).
