Program Overview and Relevance
Huawei, a global leader in technology, has announced the 10th edition of its “Seeds for the Future” program in Mexico. This initiative aims to nurture young talent, strengthen education in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and encourage socially impactful projects across various sectors worldwide.
In Mexico, the demand for professionals in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields significantly outweighs the supply. According to OECD data, only 26% of university graduates choose these disciplines, despite their high employability rate. The shortage of skilled professionals poses a challenge to meeting the country’s technological and innovation needs.
In this context, Huawei’s “Seeds for the Future” program plays a crucial role in advancing STEM talent in Mexico by bringing together students, academics, and professionals to foster innovation and open opportunities in strategic sectors for the nation.
Program Details and Application Process
The call is open to final-year university students and recent graduates from ICT-related fields. Applicants must propose technology-driven solutions that contribute to the development of key areas such as healthcare, environment, Internet of Things (IoT), and social impact.
The registration period is from September 15 to October 3, 2025, through the portal seedsforthefuture.com.mx.
To apply, candidates must submit a resume in English, proof of intermediate language proficiency (B2 level), a motivation letter, a project conceptual outline, and a video titled “My Video for Seeds for the Future Mexico 2025.”
A selection committee will evaluate proposals based on innovation, technological feasibility, social impact, and candidates’ academic background.
The top projects will proceed to interviews, with the winners announced on October 9. Each recipient will receive a fully funded advanced training scholarship from Huawei, along with the latest tablet and an all-expenses-paid trip to participate in academic and cultural activities.
Moreover, selected students will join Huawei’s global Tech4Good initiative, aimed at strengthening entrepreneurship and designing technology solutions with social impact.
