Background and Relevance
The National Electoral Institute (INE) of Mexico initiated a selection process on March 27, 2023, to renew the leadership structures of 17 Local Electoral Organizations (Oples) across various states. This process attracted a total of 1,916 applications from interested individuals, highlighting the importance and interest in these positions.
Application Process
Out of the 1,916 applicants, 1,703 met the requirements and proceeded to the selection exam conducted by the National Center for Evaluation in Higher Education (Ceneval) on May 17. Following the exam, 521 candidates advanced to the document review and essay-writing phase.
On July 31, The College of Mexico evaluated the essays, and 342 candidates, including 158 women, 180 men, and 4 individuals identifying as non-binary, were deemed suitable to continue in the selection process.
After one candidate withdrew from the selection process for the Aguascalientes Ople, 341 individuals moved on to the curriculum evaluation and interview stage.
Interview Phase
The interviews for the selected candidates will take place between September 22-26 and September 29-October 2, 2025. Three working groups, composed of INE council members, will oversee the interviews to finalize the integration of new Electoral Councils.
The working groups are as follows:
- Group 1: Carla Astrid Humphrey Jordan, Dania Paola Ravel Cuevas, and Jorge Montaño Ventura
- Group 2: Consejera Presidenta Guadalupe Taddei Zavala, Norma Irene De La Cruz Magaña, Arturo Castillo Loza, and Jaime Rivera Velázquez
- Group 3: Rita Bell López Vences, Claudia Zavala Pérez, Uuc-kib Espadas Ancona, and José Martín Faz Mora
