New Office in Mexico City’s Polanco Neighborhood
Google, the global technology giant, celebrated its 20th anniversary in Mexico by announcing the opening of a new office space in Mexico City’s Polanco district. The new headquarters, located at the corporate Antara building, will serve as the central hub for over 900 employees, with more than 100 being engineers.
Google’s Impact and Growth in Mexico
This new office is part of Google’s expansion in Mexico, a country where the company has been present for two decades. According to Google, its presence in Mexico has had a positive impact on the lives of Mexicans. Julian Coulter, Director of Google México, stated, “Our history in Mexico began with the opening of offices in the capital, the first in Spanish-speaking Latin America. Since then, we have built a legacy that is now reflected in a Center of Excellence for Engineering, a Google Cloud region, and teams across various cities in the country.”
An IPSOS study mentioned that 89% of Mexicans surveyed believe Google’s presence has had a positive impact on their lives.
Investment in Education
Google’s investment in the new Antara office symbolizes its commitment to nurturing talent and emerging businesses in Mexico. As part of its initiatives, Google announced a push for digital education and training.
In collaboration with the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) and the International Youth Foundation (IYF), Google will provide 89,000 scholarships for its Career Certificates in high-demand areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Digital Marketing, Cybersecurity, and Data Analysis. Since 2019, this initiative has benefited over 29,500 Mexicans.
Google will also offer free access to Google AI Pro for one year to Mexican students. This package includes advanced tools like Gemini 2.5 Pro, Veo 3 Fast, Deep Research, and an improved version of NotebookLM, designed to enhance learning and innovation among the younger generation.
Earlier in 2025, the pilot program “Experience AI” was launched in Veracruz, a collaboration between Google DeepMind and the Raspberry Pi Foundation. It trained over 200 teachers and benefited more than 5,000 students.
To continue the program, Google.org, Google’s philanthropic arm, will allocate an additional $2 million to this educational project in Mexico.
Support for Entrepreneurship
Google’s commitment to talent development extends to the productive sector. To support entrepreneurs and small businesses, Google introduced “Immersion with AI.”
This free program, developed in partnership with online technology schools Alura and Código Facilito, has the potential to train 100,000 SMEs in using AI for marketing, customer service, and financial management, with a focus on the tourism sector.
Beyond talent initiatives, Google presented AI-driven solutions addressing critical challenges in Mexico. In the environmental realm, Project Green Light, which uses AI to optimize traffic lights, has improved mobility and reduced emissions of polluting gases. This technology is already operational in 157 road intersections in Monterrey.
Google Research has developed an AI model capable of predicting floods up to seven days in advance, with alerts sent to users through Google Search and Google Maps.
During the anniversary event, Google showcased its commitment to the Mexican market through local infrastructure expansion and new technological solutions. From opening a new office to launching AI training programs, Google’s focus is on talent development and integrating AI into various sectors across the country.
