Despite the accumulated reduction, Querétaro maintained its position as the ninth-largest market contributor in Mexico, accounting for 2.5% of the national market, according to Rodríguez Miranda.
Challenges and Outlook
Rodríguez Miranda explained that 2025 has been challenging for the automotive distribution sector due to economic uncertainty in Mexico, partly caused by the United States’ tariff policies.
“2025 has been a difficult year for the automotive distribution sector; as we enter the last part of this year, we hope conditions improve. For now, we can report that during the first eight months of 2025, Querétaro recorded a total of 23,774 new vehicle purchases, placing it ninth among the 32 federal entities,” she stated.
The sector remains optimistic about improved conditions in the final quarter of the year and increased vehicle placements.
Sales by Vehicle Type
In the first eight months of 2025, pickup trucks accounted for 56.8% of total sales, with 13,497 units sold. Of these, 9,053 were multi-purpose vehicles and 4,444 were standard pickups.
The remaining 43.2% of sales, or 10,277 vehicles, were passenger cars. This includes 5,729 compact cars, 3,285 subcompacts, 1,148 luxury vehicles, and 115 sports cars.
Hybrid and Electric Vehicles
Between January and August, Querétaro sold 2,008 hybrid and electric vehicles, representing 8.4% of the national indicator.
With this level of sales, Querétaro remained among the top 10 states for hybrid and electric vehicle sales.
