Nayarit Rises Among the Top Five States in Technological Innovation for Education
Tepic, Nayarit, October 2, 2025. – Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero, the Governor of Nayarit, led the distribution of robotics scholarships and updated materials for the First Lego League Unearthed 2025-2026 season. The initiative aims to bring children and youth closer to science and technology, benefiting students in Basic and Indigenous Education across the state.
Navarro Quintero’s Vision for Education
Navarro Quintero emphasized that education is the driving force for social and national transformation, and his administration seeks to equip new generations with essential skills such as creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, programming, and problem-solving for the 21st century.
Investment in Robotics Education
During the event, Navarro Quintero announced an investment of 10 million pesos to strengthen robotics learning in basic and upper secondary schools. He proposed a collaboration, contributing 5 million pesos each, totaling 10 million pesos for immediate use in purchasing robotics educational materials for students and teachers.
“We will provide nearly 200 schools with the materials they have acquired. What do you think if I contribute 5 million and you contribute 5 million, adding up to 10 million for immediate use? We can buy 10 million pesos worth of robotics educational elements for students and teachers, whom I want to express my gratitude. My government functions because teachers are fulfilling their responsibilities.”
Progress and Commitments
The Governor assured that half of the established commitments would be fulfilled within less than two months, ensuring resources reach schools across the state.

Eduardo Villarreal Güereña, Director General of SEPEN, recalled that having robotics equipment in classrooms seemed impossible a few years ago. Today, Nayarit is among the top five best-equipped states nationally, opening doors for student participation in international competitions.

Alejandro Cheluis, from Fundación Robotix, praised the Governor’s vision and collaboration with state educational authorities to establish one of the most impactful pedagogical and technological projects worldwide.
First Lego League Program
The First Lego League is an international program promoting interest in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) among children aged 4 to 16 through playful experiences preparing them to tackle real-life challenges.
Nayarit’s Success in First Lego League
In the 2024-2025 edition, five Nayarit teams advanced to the national stage; one team from “Profr. Manuel Durán Cárdenas” Primary School in Compostela qualified for an international competition in Florida, USA, a first for the state.
