Project Seeks to Unite Government, Industry, and Academia
Mexico IA+ Inversión Acelerada aims to align government, industry, academia, and civil society towards a common goal: for Mexico to develop and control its own AI infrastructure and capabilities, without relying on external technologies.
This initiative stems from discussions with US semiconductor company NVIDIA and the global Sovereign AI program, which seeks a strategic local partner per country to build national AI ecosystems. In Mexico, Cipre Holding was chosen as the partner to lead this agenda.
Transforming AI Sovereignty into Public Policy, Infrastructure, and Talent
The event’s premise is to turn AI sovereignty into public policy, infrastructure, and talent. It’s not about importing algorithms but creating data, computing centers, standards, ethical frameworks, and human capabilities with a distinctly Mexican identity.
“Undoubtedly, today AI is the new global power engine, and Mexico must decide whether it wants to be a spectator or a protagonist. The only way to be a protagonist is also to genuinely generate our own technology and not depend on external countries,” said Jessica Peña, Director of Mexico IA+ Inversión Acelerada in an interview.
Mexico IA+ Proposes Eleven Strategic Axes
The national effort is organized around eleven strategic axes, including AI and robotics; sovereign infrastructure and cybersecurity; green energy; electric mobility; digital governance; circular economy; intelligent logistics; agrotech and foodtech; digital health and biotechnology; and Tourism 5.0. The aim is for each vertical to connect public issues, business projects, and talent development.

The event will gather content and experts from Europe, the US, and Mexico, with the presence of NVIDIA’s board, CCE leaders, and authorities.
Data Governance: Another Pillar of the Event
Mexico IA+ will promote the generation, custody, and certification of datasets for training models with cultural identity and national priorities. This step ensures the quality, security, and relevance of solutions.
“For NVIDIA, sovereign means that a country builds and controls its own AI with national infrastructure, data, talent, and operational environments,” said Peña, warning that the project aims to translate this definition into measurable actions and results in economic growth and competitiveness.
