Women’s Potential and Equal Opportunities in Caregiving
During the opening of the Women Economic Forum, the need for more women in decision-making roles was highlighted, along with their potential and equal opportunities in caregiving systems.
“Equity is not just a social goal; it’s a smart development and competitiveness target. Having women at the center will increase stability,” said Michelle Ferrari, President of Women Economic Forum in Iberoamérica.
Support for Women-Owned Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)
To further empower women in the economy, discussions focused on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) founded and managed by women, many of whom are mothers.
Raquel Buenrostro, Secretary for Anti-Corruption and Good Governance, mentioned that soon there will be support for women and benefits for women who led MSMEs through simplified procedures, as well as talent preference.
“We need a distinction in the law for MSMEs, modifications to create more flexible regulations,” Buenrostro stated.
Challenges and Investments for Gender Equality
Altagracia Gómez, Coordinator of the Business Advisory Council for the Mexican Government, outlined four challenges to achieve gender equality: women’s training, promoting and visualizing female talent, collaboration from all sectors to create public policies, and investment in socially impactful topics.
“Investing in women of all ages is not an expense; it’s the best bet we can make as a country,” Gómez concluded.
