Introduction to Key Figures and Their Relevance

Tere Jiménez, the Governor of Aguascalientes, met with Luis Alfredo Fratti Silveira, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries of Uruguay, along with Santiago Wins Arnabal, the Ambassador of Uruguay to Mexico. This meeting aimed to discuss the agro-industrial model in Aguascalientes and explore potential collaborative projects.

During the meeting at the Government Palace, Governor Jiménez highlighted Aguascalientes’ progress in agriculture, including the development of Irrigation District 001 and advancements in production technology and modernization.

She also mentioned support systems for local agroproducers, such as the Agricultural Catastrophic Insurance to protect crops and Agrocredit, offering preferential 7% interest rates for the agricultural industry.

The meeting was also attended by Carlos María Onetto Barrabino, Uruguay’s Honorary Consul in Aguascalientes; Isidoro Armendáriz García, Head of the Rural Development and Agribusiness Secretariat (SEDRAE) in Aguascalientes; Jorge Armando Andrade Serafín, Undersecretary of Investment and Development in the Economic Development, Science, and Technology Secretariat of Aguascalientes; and Miguel Muñoz de la Torre, Director General of Planning at SEDRAE.

Exploration of Agricultural Initiatives

Following the meeting, the Uruguayan delegation and SEDRAE officials visited Valle Redondo, an agricultural company, to learn about their wine and juice production processes. They also conducted a field visit to Irrigation District 001 to observe technological advancements, crop conversion, and protected agriculture.
