Volaris Expands Connectivity Between Puebla and Jalisco

Puebla, Pue. Volaris has initiated the Puebla-Guadalajara flight starting Wednesday, operating twice daily between Hermanos Serdán Airport in Puebla and Guadalajara International Airport. This new route strengthens the offerings of Puebla’s international airport, located in Huejotzingo.

Secretary Highlights Economic and Tourism Benefits

Víctor Gabriel Chedraui, Secretary of Economic Development and Employment (Sedetra), emphasized that this new connection opens doors for commerce and tourism between Puebla and Jalisco. He explained that the route now provides better connectivity not only within Mexico but also to the United States, Central America, and South America.

Chedraui pointed out that the Puebla-Guadalajara flight, now operated by Volaris, will increase mobility to the “Hermanos Serdán” airport, as it is one of the most demanded destinations. He also mentioned that residents of Tlaxcala would benefit from the proximity to the airport, being closer than those living in Puebla City.

Volaris Executive Highlights Regional Dynamics and Innovation

Jorge Roberto García Rojas, Director of Distribution, Market Development, and Cargo for Volaris, praised Puebla as one of the most dynamic regions in the country and Guadalajara as a hub for innovation and business. He noted that market analysis confirmed interest in covering the Puebla-Guadalajara route, as tourists and businesspeople frequently travel between the two locations.

Currently, Volaris offers direct flights from Puebla to Cancún, Guadalajara, and Tijuana, matching the offerings of Viva Aerobús in the region.

Secretary Addresses Potential Route Cancellations

Chedraui considered it crucial to strengthen the offerings, given the possibility that the International Airport of Felipe Ángeles (AIFA) might cancel some routes due to low demand. He acknowledged that Puebla has the potential to be an alternative hub to Mexico City, as the local airport is currently underutilized, operating at only 5% capacity for cargo and with just 11 daily flights when it could accommodate up to 18 per hour.
