Introduction

Puebla, Puebla. The state entity is set to receive new investments before the end of 2025, with announcements expected this November, particularly for the Development Polo in San José Chiapa, home to Audi’s automotive plant.

Investment Announcements and Sector Focus

Víctor Gabriel Chedraui, Secretary of Economic Development and Employment (Sedetra), mentioned that they are evaluating potential companies for the Capital of Technology and Sustainability Development Polo. Contrary to the Consejo Coordinador Empresarial’s (CCE) statement that no further investments would occur this year, Chedraui emphasized that companies need to consider various factors before finalizing a project.

Puebla is attractive for manufacturers in the textile, automotive, food, and renewable energy sectors. The Development Economic Polo in Puebla has committed investments totaling 2,100 million pesos, as announced by Chedraui in September.

Investment Details and Strategies

Chedraui reiterated that Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier will make investment announcements in November, as they are finalizing discussions with companies for the Development Polo and industrial zones in Puebla.

“Puebla has extensive competitive advantages in strategic location, road and rail connectivity, skilled labor force, and technological innovation potential,” he highlighted.

He added that fiscal incentives will be crucial to attract new businesses, as the state government aims to create a plan ensuring entrepreneurs recognize Puebla’s logistical advantages as a transit hub between southern and central Mexico.

Sedetra is monitoring both short-term and medium-term investment projects.

Buen Fin Collaboration

Meanwhile, the National Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Canaco-Servytur) is negotiating with Puebla’s municipal government to implement operations in the Historic Center, aiming to minimize street vendors’ presence during the Buen Fin promotional campaign.

Juan Pablo Cisneros Madrid, Canaco-Servytur’s president, explained that formalizing businesses through an application ensures protection against unfair competition.

The formal commerce sector requests increased surveillance in the central zone to prevent informal vendors from operating as in previous years, when counterfeit and contraband goods were sold during the Buen Fin campaign.
