Querétaro Hosts a Significant Professional Workforce
Querétaro, Qro. As of the first quarter of 2025, Querétaro is home to approximately 245,420 employed professionals, placing it at position 15 among Mexico’s 32 federal entities, according to data from the Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social (STPS).
Gender Gap and Average Income
The state exhibits a gender gap of 4.6 percentage points, with 52.3% being male professionals and 47.7% female professionals, as reported by the Labor Observatory of the STPS.
The average monthly income stands at 20,939 pesos, ranking Querétaro fifth, surpassed by the top four entities: Ciudad de Mexico, Nuevo Leon, Baja California Sur, and Baja California, which exceed 21,000 pesos.
Professionals Aim to Increase Involvement with Public and Private Sectors
In this context, professionals in Querétaro are striving to enhance their participation and connection with both public and private sectors, according to Mayela Portos Hernández, president of the Federación de Colegios y Asociaciones de Profesionistas del Estado de Querétaro (Fecapeq).
Upon assuming office as president of the XXII Consejo Directivo, Portos Hernández emphasized that one of their primary objectives is to ensure professionals’ voices are heard across various sectors and in authorities’ decision-making processes.
“We aim for the voices of professionals to be heard in every space, sector, and decision that shapes Querétaro’s future. All authorities should recognize that Fecapeq holds the experience, practice, vision, and passion of those who work daily to build a better state,” she expressed.
Building alliances will be crucial, along with the inclusion of all professionals participating in Querétaro’s development over the coming years, she added.
“Alliance-building will be the growth engine, promoter, and catalyst in every corner of our state. However, to achieve this, the call for participation must be guided by two fundamental elements: first, acknowledging each individual’s importance and their participation; second, the inclusion of all Querétaro professionals, as they determine the technical, scientific, and objective level driving the entity’s growth for upcoming years,” Portos Hernández explained.
She outlined some of her management principles, including professional linkages, broader alliances, closer ties with the state’s business, social, and public environment, as well as highlighting women’s contributions to Querétaro’s development.
Creation of Professional Validation Center
In collaboration with the state’s Secretaría de Educación, Fecapeq championed the establishment of the Centro de Verificación y Validación de las Calidades Profesionales (Cevecap), a unique entity in Mexico, recalled Ofir Aragón Nieves, the outgoing president of Fecapeq, while discussing their 2024 strategy.
The initial objective focused on accrediting professionals’ capabilities to ensure service quality assurance.
After taking the oath for the new Fecapeq Consejo Directivo, Governor Mauricio Kuri González declared that professionals are an essential component of Querétaro, serving as a factor in attracting investments, influencing the entity’s development, and representing a technical voice.
