Passenger Numbers and Growth
According to the Group Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) report, Guadalajara International Airport has seen a 4% increase in passenger movement from January to October of this year, totaling 15.2 million passengers compared to the same period last year.
Cryshtian Amador Lizardi, the airport’s director, highlighted this growth to El Economista, stating that it presents an opportunity to further consolidate and support the airport’s current achievements while planning for future expansion.
Passenger Segment Breakdown
The report indicates that the most significant growth was observed in the national passenger segment, which increased from 9.8 million travelers during January-October 2024 to 10.3 million in the same period of 2025, marking a 5.6% rise.
Ongoing Construction Projects
Amador Lizardi mentioned that expansion and new infrastructure projects at the airport are progressing as planned, gearing up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“We have completely transformed the facade of the parking lot, doubling its capacity with over 4,000 new spots. We are almost ready to put them into use for the winter season, which is one of our busiest periods,” he explained.
New Road Access
The airport administrator detailed another crucial project: the construction of a 17-kilometer road viaduct that will connect the terminal to Adolf Horn Avenue.
“This project has just begun, with the initial six kilometers now being traced. We are also focusing on expanding the access intersection and collaborating with the state government to widen the Guadalajara-Chapala road,” he added.
“Construction started about two months ago with the first six kilometers of the viaduct, and we are currently 10-15% along in building this additional connection to the airport from Adolf Horn,” emphasized Amador Lizardi.
Recognition as a Leading Airport in Latin America
Amador Lizardi pointed out that both current and previous quinquennial projects, including the implementation of a second runway, have established Guadalajara Airport as the leading facility in its category within Latin America.
“These efforts have earned us recognition as the best airport in Latin America, serving between 15 and 25 million passengers, according to the Airport Service Quality Awards (ASQ) by the International Airports Council (ACI World) this year,” he concluded.
