Overview of ANTAD’s November Sales Performance

The National Association of Supermarkets and Department Stores (ANTAD) reported that while November sales recovered some momentum, growing by 4.2% on an identical-store basis, it still marks the weakest November performance since 2020 when the increase was only 2.6%.

Sales by Store Format

Among store formats, Self-Service saw the lowest growth with a 2.5% increase on an identical-store basis. Department Stores experienced a 5% growth, and Specialty Stores saw a 5.5% rise on an identical-store basis.

Total Stores Sales Growth

For Total Stores, which include all stores opened in the last 12 months, the growth was 6.5% compared to the same month in 2024.

The accumulated growth from January to November 2025 for Identical Stores is 3.3%, and for Total Stores, it’s 5.8%. November sales totaled 168,000 million pesos, and the accumulated sales by the eleventh month of 2025 reached 1.48 trillion pesos.

In January 2025, ANTAD forecasted a nominal growth of 3.9% for identical stores and 6.5% for total stores for the year.

Buen Fin 2025 Sales Figures

ANTAD also detailed that the total sales of its associated chains during the promotional period of El Buen Fin reached 50,200 million pesos, with 7,000 million generated through e-commerce.

Compared to 2024, sales were higher by 5,800 million pesos; however, it’s important to note that the 2025 program had an additional day of sales.

  • Highest Sales Day: Monday, November 17, accounted for 26.1% of total sales.
  • Lowest Sales Day: Thursday, November 13, accounted for 14.3% of total sales.

Relevance of ANTAD and Its Impact

The National Association of Supermarkets and Department Stores (ANTAD) is a crucial organization representing major retail chains in Mexico. These chains include popular stores like Walmart, Chedraui, and Comercial Mexicana. ANTAD’s monthly sales reports serve as a barometer for the retail sector’s health and consumer spending trends in Mexico.

As one of the most influential retail associations in Mexico, ANTAD’s findings are closely watched by industry analysts, investors, and the government. Its reports provide insights into consumer behavior, market trends, and the overall economic climate.

The association’s November sales report indicates that despite a slow start, the Mexican retail sector managed to recover some ground. However, the weakest November performance since 2020 suggests that consumers might be more cautious with their spending due to economic uncertainties.

The Buen Fin 2025 sales figures highlight the growing importance of e-commerce in Mexico’s retail landscape. With 7,000 million pesos generated through online sales during the promotional period, it underscores the need for traditional retailers to adapt and invest in digital platforms to remain competitive.
