Mexico’s “México Te Abraza” Program Continues to Support Repatriated Citizens

Background and Importance of the Program

The Mexican government, led by Secretary of the Interior Rosa Icela Rodríguez, has announced that the “México Te Abraza” program will continue through 2026 to assist Mexican nationals returning from the United States. This initiative aims to support hardworking individuals who have contributed to both countries’ economies while being away from their homeland.

Program Details and Reach

The program operates through 34 governmental entities, providing essential services at various centers across Mexico. These centers are located in Tijuana, Baja California; San Luis Río Colorado and Nogales, Sonora; Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua; Nueva Rosita, Coahuila; Reynosa and Matamoros, Tamaulipas; Tapachula, Chiapas; and Villahermosa, Tabasco.

From January 20, the program has served 145,537 Mexican citizens returning from the United States. The services provided include:

  • Over 846,000 assistance actions at attention centers
  • More than 292,000 hot meals
  • Over 24,300 medical consultations
  • More than 8,000 psychological consultations

Additional Support and Achievements

Through the DIF system, families received support, including legal, health, and anti-violence assistance. More than 90,000 individuals were enrolled in the IMSS for humanitarian and solidarity reasons.

  • Over 56,000 certified birth certificates and CURP copies were distributed
  • More than 85,000 individuals received a Tarjeta Bienestar Paisano with 200 pesos for transportation to their hometowns
  • Over 30,000 repatriated citizens joined Bienestar programs
  • More than 12,900 land regularization advisories were given
  • Over 98,000 individuals were transferred to their home states by the National Migration Institute
