Minera Frisco Prepays Bond Worth $50 Million
Minera Frisco, a company controlled by Mexico’s wealthiest businessman, Carlos Slim, will prepay a short-term bond worth $50 million that was issued in May this year on the Mexican stock market.
The bond, with the ticker symbol ‘MFRISCO 00125’ and an 8.27% coupon, matures on May 5, 2026. Minera Frisco raised 4 billion Mexican pesos (approximately $222.2 million) through this bond issuance.
The company will cover accrued and unpaid interest up to the prepayment date, along with any outstanding amounts related to the certificates. The bond payment will take place on December 26 via Indeval, the institution for depositing values.
Axtel Secures Credit from Bancomext
Axtel, a telecommunications services company, has agreed to a credit facility with the National Bank of Foreign Trade (Bancomext) worth 1,600 million Mexican pesos (approximately $88.9 million) with a 10-year term.
These funds will be used to prepay 60 million USD of an existing credit line with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and to partially prepay 28 million USD of a syndicated bank credit line.
Post this operation, Axtel stated that it has extended its average debt term from 3 to 4 years, thereby strengthening its capital structure.
