Querétaro Participates in Fitur and Formalizes Viaja Seguro Alliance

Querétaro, Qro. At the start of Fitur 2023 in Madrid, Spain, Querétaro joined the Viaja Seguro alliance, which aims to implement a decalogue of commitments to prevent and eradicate human trafficking, focusing on the protection of girls, boys, and adolescents while incorporating gender perspectives and human rights.

Binational Scope and Collaboration

The initiative has a binational reach, seeking synergy among various government levels, the tourism sector, social organizations, and allies in Mexico and Spain, as confirmed by the state government in a press release.

During the alliance signing, Governor Mauricio Kuri González emphasized that tourism carries significant social responsibility, as it not only boosts economic activity but also plays a crucial role in society. The strategy is a binational effort linking Mexico and Spain.

Federal Deputy Tania Palacios Kuri, President of the Tourism Commission in the Chamber of Deputies and a Querétaro representative, further explained that this strategy aims to strengthen regulatory frameworks, public policies, and actions that safeguard individuals’ integrity in tourism contexts.

Querétaro’s Participation in Fitur 2026

Fitur 2023, the 46th edition, began on January 21 in Madrid, with Mexico as the invited country. Querétaro’s promotion space was inaugurated, showcasing the state’s tourism, cultural, gastronomic, experiential, and business offerings.

State tourism authorities, including Secretary Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, highlighted that Querétaro’s participation in the Mexico pavilion would reinforce the entity’s promotion among tourism operators, investors, and professionals.

Over five days, Querétaro’s capabilities in tourism will be presented to 155,000 sector professionals from 161 countries and 967 exhibitors. The event features nine pavilions, with Mexico’s pavilion prominently displaying Querétaro’s offerings.

Querétaro Receives Fitur’s Excelencias Turísticas Award

On the first day of Fitur, Querétaro received the Excelencias Turísticas Award for its Camino Iniciático de Santiago project, granted by the Excelencias editorial group.

According to the state tourism secretariat, Querétaro’s Camino Iniciático de Santiago has the approval of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and covers 127 kilometers divided into seven stages suitable for pedestrian travel. The route crosses the municipalities of Pinal de Amoles, Landa de Matamoros, Jalpan de Serra, and Arroyo Seco.

As part of the project, 4.9 million pesos were invested, and 197 orientation signs were installed. The initiative is expected to directly benefit over 60 tourism service providers in Querétaro’s mountainous region.
