Collaborative Effort for Gender Equality Diagnosis
Guadalajara, Jalisco. To accurately pinpoint areas for improvement and expedite the transition towards more balanced leadership, the Cámara Nacional de la Industria Tequilera (CNIT), the Instituto Mexicano de la Competitividad (IMCO), and Kiik Consultores collaborated on the study “Mujeres en las Empresas 2025”.
According to Ana Cristina Villalpando, General Director of the CNIT, this analysis reveals that the tequila industry not only acknowledges current gender challenges but also leads the implementation of inclusion policies compared to other economic sectors.
Smaller Gender Gap in Tequila Industry
The results from CNIT-affiliated companies demonstrate progress in gender equality. The representation gap in majority positions is smaller, as women have a more extensive presence than observed in other Jalisco-based business associations.
Moreover, large tequila sector companies have fully implemented crucial inclusion measures such as anti-discrimination protocols, continuous training in gender equality, and flexible work hours for employees.
“We are in an industry undergoing significant transformation. Being the sole organization to generate this level of statistical detail proves that we utilize data as a catalyst for change. Today, we surpass other business groups in critical transparency and inclusion policy indicators, placing us at the forefront to attract and retain female talent within our membership,” stated CNIT’s Director.
Equitable Career Advancement
Villalpando highlighted one of the study’s most significant findings: equitable career growth. For every five women advancing, six men do, with Marketing, Human Resources, Suretyship, and Legal departments having the highest female representation.
Currently, women hold 19% of top-tier positions within the Tequila Chamber.
