Mara Lezama Espinosa Announces Sixth Finest Hotel by Grupo Excellence
Cancún. Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa announced the construction of the sixth Finest hotel by Grupo Excellence in Quintana Roo’s northern region, with an investment of over 250 million dollars, during Fitur 2026.
During a meeting with the Montaner family, shareholders of Grupo Excellence, Lezama Espinosa explained that Quintana Roo remains an investment magnet, leading to job creation and shared prosperity.
“Another Finest hotel is coming, and we’re confident it will be a great success,” said the governor. “Thank you for believing in Quintana Roo, our destinations, and this wonderful land.”
Lezama Espinosa supports growth, but ordered and sustainable, so current and future generations can continue to enjoy Quintana Roo’s natural beauties.
Record-Breaking Hotel Rooms in Quintana Roo
Quintana Roo added nearly 2,000 new hotel rooms in 2025, reaching almost 138,000 rooms across the state and solidifying its position as the world’s second-largest destination for tourist accommodation, just behind Las Vegas.
According to a report by the Quintana Roo Tourism Secretariat, as of July 2025, the state had 135,961 rooms. By August, the number increased to 137,937, adding 1,976 units.
This addition of 2,000 rooms aligns with a recent CBRE report indicating that 2,280 new hotel rooms opened nationwide in the first half of 2025, with 1,715 (75%) in Cancún, 355 (16%) in the Riviera Maya, and 140 (6%) in Riviera Nayarit.
