Strengthening Technological Capacity for Local and International Industries

Puebla, Pue. In an effort to bolster technological capabilities for both local and international industries, the state government plans to establish two Centros de Especialización de Recursos Humanos de Alto Nivel (Cerhan) by 2026.

Víctor Gabriel Chedraui, Secretary of Economic Development and Labor (Sedetra), explained that while Puebla’s universities are producing a significant amount of human capital in technology and automotive engineering, there is a need to align these skills with the competitiveness requirements of businesses, particularly in Puebla.

Existing Center and New Developments

Chedraui mentioned that the first Cerhan is already operational in San José Chiapa, home to a German AUDI factory and its supplier park. This area, previously known as Ciudad Modelo, has been rebranded as the Capital of Technology and Sustainability during the current administration.

However, two new centers will be established. One will be located in the Parque Industrial Finsa, adjacent to Volkswagen de México’s plant in Cuautlancingo. The other will be situated in Tehuacán, where half of the industrial park’s land remains unused and will be allocated for this purpose.

Timeline for Opening

The first center will focus on emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), catering to the automotive industry and other strategic sectors. It is expected to be ready by the first half of 2026.

The second center in Tehuacán is anticipated to be completed by year-end. Chedraui noted that it will assist textile companies and maquiladoras, helping them integrate more technology into their production processes and reduce resource losses.

Collaboration with Universities

Chedraui emphasized that the Cerhan will be linked to the University of Technology and Sustainability for their development.

“The state government will continue to support productive sectors, as entrepreneurs are the ones who generate wealth and employment, which is the primary tool to combat poverty and marginalization,” he highlighted.

He pointed out that sectors like industry and automotive have experienced growth in recent years, complemented by Puebla’s specialized human capital.

Chedraui concluded that these projects aim to position Puebla as a hub for technological innovation and startup development.
