Background and Growth of the Baseball Champions League
The BCL aims to promote international club baseball, unlike the World Baseball Classic that features national teams. The league’s commissioner, Guillermo Ramírez, plans to expand the tournament across four platforms: Americas starting in 2025, Europe from 2026, Asia between 2027 and 2028, and a global Champions League in 2030.
Tournament Format and Schedule
The competition will consist of two groups. Group 1 will include Mexico, the United States, and Venezuela, while Group 2 will feature Cuba, China Taipéi, and Nicaragua.
- The top teams from each group will advance directly to the semifinals.
- The second and third-placed teams in each group will compete in a playoff to reach the Final Four.
- The finalists will be determined through a single-game matchup.
To accommodate China Taipéi fans, Group 2 matches will be played at 10:00 AM Central Time in Mexico, accounting for a 12-hour time difference. Group 1 matches will start at 7:00 PM Central Time.
