Introduction to Leapmotor and Stellantis Partnership

Stellantis, a prominent global automotive company, has announced the arrival of Leapmotor, a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) brand, to Mexico. Starting in 2026, Leapmotor will enter the Mexican market with a lineup of three SUV models: B10, C10, and C16. These vehicles will be part of Stellantis’ diverse portfolio and aim to compete in the Mexican automotive sector.

Leapmotor’s Model Lineup and Technology

Leapmotor will introduce its SUV models to the Mexican market, all equipped with exclusive Ultra-Hybrid REEV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) technology. This technology combines a primary electric motor driving the wheels with a small combustion engine that functions solely as a generator to recharge the battery while in motion.

  • B10: A compact SUV with 215 horsepower and an autonomy range of up to 900 kilometers.
  • C10: A medium-sized SUV with 215 horsepower and an autonomy range of up to 1,100 kilometers.
  • C16: Another SUV with 228 horsepower and a total autonomy range of up to 1,000 kilometers, offering a premium level of features.

Stellantis’ Preparations and Commitment to Quality

Before the official launch, which is expected before the end of the first half of 2026, all Leapmotor vehicles will be meticulously evaluated by Stellantis’ Mexico Engineering Research, Development, and Testing Center. This ensures a thorough understanding of the vehicles’ technical and dynamic features, as well as their readiness for Mexico’s climate and geography.

Stellantis Mexico emphasizes that Leapmotor’s arrival will provide accessible electric vehicles, high-quality standards, multiple international safety recognitions, and strong post-sale service support through Mopar. Additionally, Leapmotor will have a robust national dealer network.

Joint Venture Between Leapmotor and Stellantis

In May 2024, Leapmotor and Stellantis formed a joint venture called Leapmotor International B.V., with Stellantis owning 51% and Leapmotor holding 49%. The collaboration aims to leverage Stellantis’ global commercial and post-sale presence alongside Leapmotor’s advanced technology to accelerate the brand’s sales in other regions.

Stellantis highlighted that Leapmotor will not be just another Chinese brand in Mexico but a technology-driven brand with 85 years of electrification expertise, supported by Stellantis’ engineering infrastructure.

Mopar’s Support for Leapmotor

Like other Stellantis brands, Leapmotor will benefit from Mopar’s after-sales support, focusing on service, parts, and customer care.
