NVIDIA’s $2 Billion Investment in OpenAI

NVIDIA, the American company manufacturing high-performance chips for the artificial intelligence industry, is nearing completion of a $2 billion capital investment in OpenAI, an AI firm backed by Microsoft.

This contribution represents NVIDIA’s largest individual commitment to the AI company and is set to finalize soon. OpenAI aims to raise up to $10 billion in its current funding round from various technology companies, including Microsoft and Amazon.com.

NVIDIA’s stock dropped 3.41% on Wednesday in the Nasdaq to $174.19.

Grupo Omni’s Restart of Jüsto in Mexico

Grupo Omni, a Costa Rican-origin company with operations across multiple sectors, announced the relaunch of its online supermarket service, Jüsto, in Mexico after acquiring Jüsto USA along with a $100 million investment plan.

Jüsto plans to incorporate new suppliers shortly, enable all delivery areas, and sign agreements with allied order delivery platforms such as Rappi, Uber, Didi, and Amazon.

Grupo Omni intends to carry out a financial and administrative restructuring to ensure Jüsto’s viability, aiming to regain its market valuation that once reached an estimated $1 billion, according to the Costa Rican-origin conglomerate.

Grupo Bimbo Wins Brand Defense for Takis in Colombia

Grupo Bimbo, a Mexican producer of bread and snacks with global presence, secured a favorable administrative resolution against a competitor attempting to register a similar brand to its Takis snacks in Colombia, as reported by local portal Asuntos Legales.

The Colombian Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC), the country’s competition authority, halted Coffee Racer Colombia’s intentions to register the Potakis brand, deeming it insufficiently distinct from Grupo Bimbo’s Takis to prevent consumer confusion, reported the Colombian news outlet.

SIC also determined that the products were similar. Takis is part of Barcel’s product portfolio, Grupo Bimbo’s snack line.

In its annual report 2024, the company highlighted Takis as one of its leading brands.

Roblox Launches AI Technology

Roblox released on Wednesday an AI technology capable of generating fully functional models within the game using natural language commands, as part of its aggressive bet on machine learning to attract more developers to its video game platform.

Called “4D creation,” the technology was launched in beta form and builds upon Roblox’s previous model, which could generate static 3D objects. The new model allows users to create a vehicle, interact with its doors, and drive it with precise physical mechanics.

This model aims to lower the barrier to entry for Roblox’s developer community, user-driven and responsible for games played on the platform. The company seeks to boost new game creation and expand its already extensive user base.

Roblox had an average of over 150 million daily active users at the end of the third quarter.
