Introduction to PepsiCo’s Electric Fleet Initiative

PepsiCo has announced a significant investment in Ford’s electric delivery vehicles, the Ford E-Transit, totaling over 2,300 million pesos. This move is expected to reduce annual CO2 emissions by 3,900 tonnes.

Partnership Details

As part of PepsiCo’s plan to incorporate more than a thousand E-Transit units into their fleet, the company will initially assign 346 electric delivery vans to its Sabritas distribution center in Tlalpizáhuac, Estado de México.

Later in the year, PepsiCo will add another 670 electric vans, primarily for product distribution in the Valle de México and Nuevo León.

Ford’s Perspective

Lucien Pinto, President and CEO of Ford de México, Puerto Rico, Centroamérica y El Caribe, expressed his excitement about the partnership: “Ford E-Transit combines the best of both worlds – the efficiency and sustainability of an electric vehicle with the practicality and cargo capacity that make E-Transit the ideal partner for companies like PepsiCo. We are thrilled to form alliances of this level, demonstrating that we are advancing into the future as companies while simultaneously driving efficiency, strength, and innovation into a new era.”

Electric Vehicle Capabilities

One of the key advantages of Ford E-Transit for PepsiCo is its cargo capacity. Despite being electric, it doesn’t compromise on space or load capacity, offering four versions ranging from 7.8 cubic meters to 13.7 cubic meters with a load capacity of up to 1,623 kilograms.

Powered by an electric motor delivering 198 kWh – 266 HP and 317 lb-ft of torque, Ford E-Transit ensures a smooth, quiet ride with instant acceleration. Pinto highlighted, “This means Ford E-Transit doesn’t skimp on power and can move with agility, even when carrying a substantial load.”
