Viva Aerobus Passenger Traffic Surge
Viva Aerobus, Mexico’s second-largest low-cost airline, reported a 17.6% increase in passenger traffic for April, marking the highest traffic growth in the past 14 months. This achievement is attributed to a more favorable base of comparison.
This growth extends Viva Aerobus’s 50 consecutive months of advancement, starting from February 2021 when airlines began to overcome the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Domestic traffic rose by 15.3% compared to April of the previous year, while international passenger numbers increased by 39% from the same period last year. The airline’s capacity, measured in available seat miles, grew by 10.4%.
Cumulatively, Viva Aerobus transported 9.353 million passengers from January to April 2025, reflecting a 12.5% increase compared to the previous year.
Financiera Independencia Pays Dividend
Financiera Independencia (Findep), a Mexican company specializing in microloans, announced that its shareholders approved the payment of a MXN 1,250 million dividend.
The company did not disclose the dividend amount per share or the payment date. In a statement, Findep clarified that the dividend comes from the net balance of the Fiscal Utility Account corresponding to accumulated results up to 2013, and thus is not subject to tax withholding.

Stori Receives “Hecho en México” Certification
On Tuesday, May 13, Mexican fintech unicorn Stori, co-founded by Marlene Garayzar, received the “Hecho en México” (Made in Mexico) certificate from Marcelo Ebrard, the Secretary of Economy.
Alongside the Government of the State of Mexico, through the Secretariat of Mobility (SEMOV), Stori introduced Movimex x Stori, the first co-branded credit card backed by Mastercard. This card rewards public transportation users in the State of Mexico.
