Introduction to CNET and CCE

The National Business Council for Tourism (CNET) has become a special affiliate of the Coordinating Business Council (CCE), allowing it to participate in strategic dialogues and decision-making processes related to Mexico’s tourism sector. CNET, the primary business representation body for the tourism industry, represents 96% of the sector by uniting all Chambers and Associations of tourism businesses and service providers.

Unanimous Approval by CCE Affiliates

The CCE’s affiliated organizations unanimously approved CNET’s special affiliate status, acknowledging its representativeness, solidity, and contributions to the tourism sector, which is crucial for Mexico. Once CNET meets the requirements to become a permanent affiliate (estimated to take 3 years), it will have voting rights in internal decisions and participate in business negotiations.

Importance of Tourism to Mexico’s Economy

Tourism plays a significant role in Mexico’s national economy, contributing 8.6% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), generating quality jobs, and providing foreign currency. CNET’s active participation in CCE sessions will contribute valuable proposals and recommendations to promote Mexico’s economic development, particularly in the tourism sector.

CNET’s Mission and Objectives

Established in 1988, CNET is a private business representation organization dedicated to promoting tourism in Mexico. It aims to safeguard the interests of the tourism industry and create optimal conditions for its growth. CNET brings together leading Chambers and Associations from all tourism branches.

President Cervantes’ Statement

CCE President Francisco Cervantes emphasized that this alliance will enhance tourism’s competitiveness, sustainability, and innovation while strengthening collaboration with authorities to establish Mexico as a leading global tourism destination. Cervantes expressed his commitment to fostering a more prosperous, inclusive, and competitive Mexico where tourism serves as a vital engine for community well-being.

Concanaco-Servytur’s Current Status

Although Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Concanaco-Servytur) also represents tourism interests, it has chosen not to join the CCE until Francisco Cervantes’ presidency ends.
