Mexican Golfer Leading the Way on LPGA Tour
Gaby López has once again become the face of Mexican golf, especially with the return of the LPGA Tour to Mexico. Her current team aligns well with her personality, reflecting in the Top 10 finishes she has achieved this season.
Fifteen years have passed since Mexican women’s golf shone under a single name: Lorena Ochoa. Now, Gaby has become a reference with her career in the progressive generational change.
Time for LPGA Tour’s Return to Mexico
“Yes, definitely, I am happy and grateful to the Santoscoy family and the Mayakoba course because they are the ones bringing back the inspiration to motivate more young female golfers. When I attended the tournaments of Lorena in 2008-2009, I felt the sensation that I could become the same person and enter the Tour to win.”
Gaby spoke with El Economista during the commercial presentation of a Huawei mobile device, her new business partner for 2025. On the occasion, she mentioned that in her career, Mexican brands have approached her for sponsorship, such as ANA Seguros, Aeroméxico, Punta Mita, businessman Luis Carlos Villarreal Sáenz, and recently, GS Sports Management, which organizes the LPGA in Mayakoba. The late Carlos Bremer also supported her career until his passing in 2024.
“The Bremer family was incredibly generous and giving to me. Now it’s my turn to look elsewhere. I have been fortunate in my career because I have had Mexican sponsors and am well-supported by Mexican companies investing in a female golfer.”
